John Beieler is Program Manager at the Intelligence Advanced Research Projects Agency (IARPA), and was previously a Research Scientist at the Johns Hopkins University Human Language Technology Center of Excellence, and a Data Scientist with Caerus Analytics.

Dr. Beieler received his PhD in Political Science in 2016 from Penn State, where he was a Trainee of the Big Data Social Science IGERT. His research interests include human language technology, information extraction and retrieval, event extraction, forecasting, machine learning, deep learning, and social science. He has particular interest in the extraction of political events from unstructured text, and is a founding member of the Open Event Data Alliance, which endeavors to create and disseminate open-source software for the generation of political event data.
